New Years Resolution 2012

  • 12 Noms for 2012. Inspired by this blog, I plan to bake a cake (or some kinda baked good) from scratch every month for a year. I think it's doable.
  • Keep a Journal. FOR REAL THIS TIME. Whether it be this blog, or actually keeping a physical journal, I want to start recording my life.

  • Run. I want to try and run at least a mile every day. I know it's easier if I just get into a routine, so here's to figuring out a routine!

  • Write More Letters. I have to since Susie is going out on a mission, and she'll kill me if I don't :}
  • Make more efficient use of my time. Unplug and go outside!!
  • Be Positive. Simple enough.

As much as I like making New Years Resolutions, I'll be the first to admit that I never really follow through on them. I think it's a good way to start the year motivated and excited though. Hopefully this year, I'll be better :]

Best of 2011

Best Group

The 21 Killahz. I couldn't have chosen a better group to be with while getting my BFA. They are so funny, talented, and caring. They make the program so much fun and easier when times are stressful. I can't believe it's already been a year since we all got accepted, and we only have a year left. They are definitely a big reason 2011 was so awesome :]

///

Best Love

Alexander and I were reunited, and I can't be more grateful. It's a beautiful feeling knowing you've found the person you want to spend forever with. Especially when you know you'll be laughing the entire time.

///

Best Family Trip

My family and I were blessed enough to take a trip to Hawaii together. It was a very fun experience and adventurous trip full of food, sun and rain.

Best Nerdfest

San Diego Comic-Con 2011. I can't even describe the madness and glory that is encompassed within four days. Draining, but so worth it. Can't wait for it to all happen again in 2012 because this time the Hobbit will be there, and Bear will be there too to nerd out with me!

///

Best Harry Celebration

Kimberly and I during our annual Harry Potter Party in celebration of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 2. Good-bye HP movie franchise! I will not forget thee.

///

Best Way to End the 2011 School Year

A trip to San Francisco with the 21 Killahz. After all of the stress we endured the last few weeks, we deserved it. The trip included my first dim sum experience in China Town, and the most amazing bacon cheeseburger, garlic fries, potato pesto pizza, there ever was.

///

Best Carne Asada Fries

A beautiful meal near Disneyland.

///

Best Mini Roadtrip

Bear and my mini, rock climbing road trip this past summer. Beautiful.

Currently...

  • I have no life. I go to class, and work on projects and presentations. When I'm not working on projects, I'm in the studio to continue working on projects/presentations. When I'm not actually working on school work, I'm sleeping. Oh and I am occasionally burning some calories dancing, swimming, and doing cardio.
  • fresh&easy is food heaven. Pesto hummus, rooibos tea, rice & bean chips... it's a beautiful, fantasyland.
  • I miss Disneyland and it's magic and pineapple whips.
  • I'm thankful for Heavenly Father's love and every blessing in my life.
  • I'm trying to focus on being positive and confident in my design work.
  • I should be doing scripture study more diligently.
  • I miss hanging out with my bff, Josh.
  • I'm REALLY thankful for Heavenly Father's mercy.
  • My hair is the longest it's ever been. It's kind of out of control...
  • I need to start saving big monies.
  • dreamland awaits...
to be continued...

Comic-Con 2011

Finally got some pictures. Here just a few pictures of that 4 day weekend of sweet, nerd glory. I can't post pictures of my brother, because he hates his face on the interwebs.

What these pictures don't show are the insane lines we waited in. We also didn't get a lot of people in costumes, but that's what Comic-Con 2012 is for! :D

21K Part 2

So school has started, and the 21K had a sweet reunion. We all came to the pool party that LaMar threw, and it was great seeing everyone and catching up. We're a pretty tight knit group, and I love it. This semester is supposed to the most challenging program of the semester, and I believe it. There's only been 2 weeks of school and I've already had to give 2 presentations. Short presentations, but coming from a person who has absolutely no public speaking skills, that's asking a lot...

So this semester we're taking Package Design with Tor and Branding with Sunook. Both classes have set the bar, but it sounds really exciting. I'm excited to get back in to the creative groove. In Tor's class we're trying to do sustainable packaging, and I decided to do rock climbing rope. My concept makes sense, I'm just hoping my execution comes through. As for Branding... we're branding one of our classmates. We're supposed to get to know them as a client, find some kind of product or what not and brand that based on our classmates attributes and character. Or at least I think that's what we're doing... That class is something else...

I'm also taking 5D: Designing for the Futureee with Tanya. That class is really small. about 15-18 people, but I don't mind. The class is a little hard to swallow sometimes, because you'll be on board one class, and completely confused the next, but this is a completely new class so we're the guinea pigs. It's a concept class and we're designing just as the class states -- "for the future" with all of this crazy Minority Report type technology. It's interesting...

I'm excited to see what challenges I can overcome as a designer and what I can produce this semester. In our branding class, we had to anonymously tell each classmate one good quality about them and one "constructive criticism," and got a lot of "self doubtful" and "worrisome" type qualities, so I'm working on it. I'm just going to be confident and a little more experimental with my designs. :]

Summer Movie List

Summer always has the best movies. I don't really go into depth with these movie "reviews".  I just like to have my own record of what movies I've seen for prosperity sake.

Captain America. I thought it was good, but I wasn't all crazy about it like everyone else. I kind of thought it was slow.

RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES WAS ONE OF THE BEST RELEASES THIS SUMMER. WETA is the shiz.

Fright Night is entertaining. Very suspenseful, but like I said, I wish I saw it in 3D!! It's meant for 3D.

I finally got to see this movie with my friend Josh at the dollar theater. It wasn't nearly as good as the first one, but it had some absolutely hilarious parts in it.

LAME. don't watch this movie ever.

Cowboys and Aliens. If you only knew what my brother and I went through to get the gold bricks to see this movie premiere at Comic-Con... Anyways, I guess I had too high of expectations. It was pretty lame in my book.

Crazy, Stupid, Love is a funny and entertaining movie. I have a huge crush on Ryan Gosling, sooooo anything he's in is good to me :] But really, good movie to see. Can't help but have a girl crush on Emma Stone too.

The Help. I really have to read the book, because I heard it's 100xs better than the movie, and I thought the movie was absolutely beautiful. I was really moved and crying everywhere. Hahaha.

Here are a few Netflix movies I also managed to watch:

Easy A is freaking hilarious. Emma Stone is a queen.

Emma. You can't not enjoy a movie in this time era. This one made me uncomfortable a bit... just one of those movies where people are putting themselves in horrible situations. You know...

Hey, Hey it's Esther Blueburger. "BlueBurg. Blue Burrrrrrrg. Blue. Blueburgerrr." Oh, indie movies.

Kabel: Our Mother. Sweet mercy this movie is depressing. DEPRESSING.

Mansfield Park. Same as Emma, but I thought this one was much better.

Bike Adventure Weekend

I'm two weeks deep in school (more on that later), but the weekend before school started up was SO much fun with Bear. We had a summer full of adventures, and I knew that both of us were going to be pretty busy with our upcoming schedules, so I wanted to make our last weekend of summer vacation jam-packed!

Firstly, I finally got Bear's bike fixed. It was supposed to be a surprise, but he noticed right when he came over since "it wasn't covered in cobwebs". Saturday started early, because we wanted to beat the heat, so we got out of the house around 8, and headed to Coffee Cup Cafe on 4th St., and after trying to look casual after we scratched a parked car with our bikes, we ordered a really yummy breakfast.

After that, I took Bear to two very special spots. One was a spot that I had always dreamed about taking him while he was on his mission. It's a place I used to always ride and just think. The second was THE LIGHTHOUSE! I try to take everyone there whenever we go on bike rides. It's just fun for them to see the downtown area and have a great view of Long Beach.

Next we rode to one of my other surprises: THE AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC!! My friend gave me two free tickets, so we got to enjoy the afternoon there. It was really, really fun. We got to touch moon jellies, rays, and sharks. See little Nemos, seals and sea lions, otters, and jelly fish galore. I loved the sting rays though.

Oh, the fun didn't stop. Then we rode our bikes to the Pike where we went to watch Crazy, Stupid, Love where we fell in love with Ryan Gosling. JK, only I fell deeper in love with him. We also snuck in Cold Stones (our favorite theater food), and I scarfed down Bear's pretzel bites.

We were pretty pooped by that time, and I got a got a tan from my racerback dress, but our day didn't stop there! It was only around 2, so we took a short nap, then Bear took me back-to-school shopping at Forever 21. I got 2 new skirts, two tops, and earrings. :] Even though we were tired, Bear wanted to go watch another movie, so we watched Fright Night! It was entertaining, but I wish we saw it in 3D!

The next day he went to Sacrament meeting with me, then he went to stuff his new bike in his car, because he had to head back home. I'm really excited to have some new bike adventures with Bear in SD!

pinheads

We are the Pinheads. Three awesome ladies all studying graphic design who absolutely love food, laughing, and each other.

Last week, the three of us were FINALLY able to all hang out and enjoy summer together. So first off, we had a picnic on the beach and talked forever.

The next day, we went to THE happiest place on earth, Disneyland. We also got dinner at Albertos and shared the greatest meal of carne asada fries ever. Back at Disney I finally got to see World of Color, go on the new Little Mermaid ride, got a pineapple whip (mah fav), rode the Storybook ride, Star Tours, the Haunted Mansion, and Big Thunder Mountain TWICE. YESSSS!! SO much fun.

I love my Pinheads :]
