Summer Movie List

Summer always has the best movies. I don't really go into depth with these movie "reviews".  I just like to have my own record of what movies I've seen for prosperity sake.

Captain America. I thought it was good, but I wasn't all crazy about it like everyone else. I kind of thought it was slow.

RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES WAS ONE OF THE BEST RELEASES THIS SUMMER. WETA is the shiz.

Fright Night is entertaining. Very suspenseful, but like I said, I wish I saw it in 3D!! It's meant for 3D.

I finally got to see this movie with my friend Josh at the dollar theater. It wasn't nearly as good as the first one, but it had some absolutely hilarious parts in it.

LAME. don't watch this movie ever.

Cowboys and Aliens. If you only knew what my brother and I went through to get the gold bricks to see this movie premiere at Comic-Con... Anyways, I guess I had too high of expectations. It was pretty lame in my book.

Crazy, Stupid, Love is a funny and entertaining movie. I have a huge crush on Ryan Gosling, sooooo anything he's in is good to me :] But really, good movie to see. Can't help but have a girl crush on Emma Stone too.

The Help. I really have to read the book, because I heard it's 100xs better than the movie, and I thought the movie was absolutely beautiful. I was really moved and crying everywhere. Hahaha.

Here are a few Netflix movies I also managed to watch:

Easy A is freaking hilarious. Emma Stone is a queen.

Emma. You can't not enjoy a movie in this time era. This one made me uncomfortable a bit... just one of those movies where people are putting themselves in horrible situations. You know...

Hey, Hey it's Esther Blueburger. "BlueBurg. Blue Burrrrrrrg. Blue. Blueburgerrr." Oh, indie movies.

Kabel: Our Mother. Sweet mercy this movie is depressing. DEPRESSING.

Mansfield Park. Same as Emma, but I thought this one was much better.

Bike Adventure Weekend

I'm two weeks deep in school (more on that later), but the weekend before school started up was SO much fun with Bear. We had a summer full of adventures, and I knew that both of us were going to be pretty busy with our upcoming schedules, so I wanted to make our last weekend of summer vacation jam-packed!

Firstly, I finally got Bear's bike fixed. It was supposed to be a surprise, but he noticed right when he came over since "it wasn't covered in cobwebs". Saturday started early, because we wanted to beat the heat, so we got out of the house around 8, and headed to Coffee Cup Cafe on 4th St., and after trying to look casual after we scratched a parked car with our bikes, we ordered a really yummy breakfast.

After that, I took Bear to two very special spots. One was a spot that I had always dreamed about taking him while he was on his mission. It's a place I used to always ride and just think. The second was THE LIGHTHOUSE! I try to take everyone there whenever we go on bike rides. It's just fun for them to see the downtown area and have a great view of Long Beach.

Next we rode to one of my other surprises: THE AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC!! My friend gave me two free tickets, so we got to enjoy the afternoon there. It was really, really fun. We got to touch moon jellies, rays, and sharks. See little Nemos, seals and sea lions, otters, and jelly fish galore. I loved the sting rays though.

Oh, the fun didn't stop. Then we rode our bikes to the Pike where we went to watch Crazy, Stupid, Love where we fell in love with Ryan Gosling. JK, only I fell deeper in love with him. We also snuck in Cold Stones (our favorite theater food), and I scarfed down Bear's pretzel bites.

We were pretty pooped by that time, and I got a got a tan from my racerback dress, but our day didn't stop there! It was only around 2, so we took a short nap, then Bear took me back-to-school shopping at Forever 21. I got 2 new skirts, two tops, and earrings. :] Even though we were tired, Bear wanted to go watch another movie, so we watched Fright Night! It was entertaining, but I wish we saw it in 3D!

The next day he went to Sacrament meeting with me, then he went to stuff his new bike in his car, because he had to head back home. I'm really excited to have some new bike adventures with Bear in SD!

pinheads

We are the Pinheads. Three awesome ladies all studying graphic design who absolutely love food, laughing, and each other.

Last week, the three of us were FINALLY able to all hang out and enjoy summer together. So first off, we had a picnic on the beach and talked forever.

The next day, we went to THE happiest place on earth, Disneyland. We also got dinner at Albertos and shared the greatest meal of carne asada fries ever. Back at Disney I finally got to see World of Color, go on the new Little Mermaid ride, got a pineapple whip (mah fav), rode the Storybook ride, Star Tours, the Haunted Mansion, and Big Thunder Mountain TWICE. YESSSS!! SO much fun.

I love my Pinheads :]

Disneyland Bachelorette Edition

My beautiful friend, Celina is getting married to my twin and dear friend, Robbie in a just few weeks; so how do we celebrate her last days as a bachelorette?

Why going to Disneyland, of course!!

A couple of her bridesmaids and myself took this lady out all day to the happiest place on earth. I'm hoping all of the walking around burned some of the 20935720525+ calories I ate. Holy. But I cannot and will not deny a pineapple whip float nor a funnel cake covered in strawberries if they are calling my name.

Anyways, can't wait for the wedding to see my two favorite THK friends be wed, so we can party all night like old times :]

Summer 2011 Update

Summer is almost up, and I failed at blogging about anything, which is really sad, because this has been the most adventurous summer ever. So I will do a small recap!

Besides working a few days during the summer, every weekend
in July had been jam-packed.

4th of July weekend highlights:
  • met Bear for lunch at his work where we got my first mac and cheese pulled pork sammie from Bear's favorite food truck.

  • went to a beach in Carlsbad where we found a secret parkinglot, read, and ate strawberries.

  • went to the zoo, ate nummy food, met Bear's friend, and road the tram.

  • bought my new MacBook Pro that I have recently named Beemo.
  • Oh yeah, and for the 6th year in a row, didn't watch the fireworks together. Bear had a test to study for, so we did a raincheck till next year :]
The weekend after that I just went to visit my parents. That's always relaxing. I just sleep and get loved by my parents.

July 15th weekend aka Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 2 Premiere:
  • Waited for this weekend since part 1 came out. Alex and I met up with Kim and Greg in Victorville around 9pm (poor Kim and Greg had been there since 3pm). I busted out Beemo and Kim and I rewatched part 1 until the midnight premiere. I thought the movie was good and I know I have to see it again to see it strictly as a movie and not compare it to the books, but I think my expectations were too high or something!!! Sigh. It was still awesome though. Cried my eyes out.
Then it was time to prep for the annual Harry Potter Party! And what was awesome this time around was that Bear was there to be our guest of honor - Harry Potter himself! The party was great. The food was awesome as usual with our licorice wands, chocolate frogs, chickens, potatoes, etc etc. The house elves would have been proud. The games were great too, and even though I didn't win the trivia game (because the questions were insane) I think this was one of the best HP parties to date!

Weekend of the 23rd was COMIC-CON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I don't have the pictures yet, but once I get them, I'll post them. Tiring, but AMAZING 4-day weekend, and I can't wait to do it all again next year. My brother and I are hardcore about certain things, so we will wake up at 3 in the morning to wait in line for something. And we did just that. Highlights were seeing Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Game of Thrones panel, Avatar Panel, Colin Ferrell, the list of actors and actresses goes on... but the BEST thing I took away from Comic-Con is my undying love for...
ADVENTURE TIME!! A hilarious and random cartoon.

July 30th weekend... sigh.
  • Bear came to visit. We went running in the morning and from then on it went down hill. I just started getting sick and feeling like crap. We went to go watch Cowboys and Aliens and ate at Johnny Rockets, but by the end of the day I had a headache and was getting a flu. Next thing you know, I'm bedridden for nearly a week with the flu. Awful. All I did was watch Netflix and anime since that's all my body let me do.
Since then, nothing adventurous has come up. Just work, and trying to enjoy summer until school starts. Oh, my church did their annual Dance Show, and I did one of the dance numbers. It was a Tahitian dance, and now I'm actually hoping I can carry on and take classes! It was fun and challenging!

My #1 fan who was kind enough to come to both of my show nights :]

Between all of this I've been definitely going to the movies a lot, but I'll do that post later. I've been really blessed to have such a fun summer with amazing friends and family to enjoy it with. Maybe Heavenly Father is prepping me since he knows this semester is supposed to be the most intense semester of the program :[

OLD POST

Ok, here is a post I never published, but here it is. no pictures from the weekend of June the 24th!

Bear and I have this habit of cramming adventures into our weekends. If we're not out and about doing something, we're drained of energy and just take naps.

And this past weekend was no exception.

Friday - I came early in the morning to help Bear back up his apartment and load his car. While he was at work, I cleaned the apartment as much as I could, and watched the Princess and the Frog on Netflix. FINALLY. I thought that movie was absolutely adorable. When Bear came back that afternoon, we finished loading both of our cars, and headed to his new apartment and began unpacking. We were getting a little aggravated with each other around this time hahaha, but it was OK.

Then after that we decided to get dinner at our favorite sushi place, Edo in La Jolla. We got two rolls, and this fatty tuna sashimi that my brother was going nuts about. It cost a fortune, and let me tell you... it wasn't THAT amazing. I'd have regular tuna over it any day :\

Saturday - We woke up early and I got to see Alex's uncle since my baptism. That's like over 2 years ago, then after that we went to a place called Cody's. Parking was a nightmare, but we somehow managed to find VIP parking near the restaurant. ZOMMMG, best French toast EVER. I'm in love.

Then after that we went to the Running Store to get me some running shoes!! That place is amazing. After finding out I'm lopsided, have one 7.5 foot and one 8 size food, and spent way too much money on insoles, I am a now the proud owner of LEGIT running shoes. It's like I'm running on clouds!

THEN we cut people in line to get off the exit to the Del Mar Fair!! Everyone and their mom was at the fair that day--it was SO packed. But we did what we went there to do - ate a turkey leg, looked at the bunnies, ate a cinnamon roll, looked at the student art exhibit, drank lemonade, walked around the game section, and ended by buying a fried Snickers. I seriously spent like $50 at the fair alone. Sweet mercy! But it was all worth it to eat that cinnamon roll. Seriously, the best cinnamon roll you can ever have touch your lips.

After THAT we went straight to Petco Park to go to the Padre's game!! First of all, Alex and I aren't baseball fans. Like, at all, but it was nice because I got to see his dad for the first time in a while. But then we got kicked out of those seats, so Alex and I went to the top to find out actual seats, and there he ran into his friend's from his old ward. It was nice to put faces with names. Then we found out a sister that served with Alex in his mission was at the game also, so we went to find her, and we talked to her for a while. She was awesome :] But then Alex and I decided that it was time to go (during the 7th inning bahahaa) to Long Beach.

So Alex and I drove separately to Long Beach (we didn't want to bother Alex's uncle as we worked like a madman on a project at the apartment). So I'm pretty sure we knocked out after getting back.

Sunday - We woke up, made french toast, fell back asleep until Church. We had to leave after sacrament because Alex had to drive back to SD. I made him stay long enough to eat the nummy dinner I made - chicken, baked beans, garlic mashed potatoes, corn bread, and brownies! Then we took a nap, because that's what we do best, and then Alex left to San Diego land.

Then I picked up my BFF Josh and we went to the Irvine Fireside to hear Elder Groberg's talk! Sweeeeeeet!

"You Fly, I Buy"

Father's Day weekend, my brother, sister and I all headed down to our parents' house for the weekend. It's always fun when we're together, and for the first half I mostly hung out with my brother and we did what we always do - go to the movies.

This is probably in my top-ten favorite movies ever. I thought it was fantastic. It's like a modern-day Goonies. They don't make movies like this anymore, and JJ Abrams... that man is like a sci-fi God.

I just realized that the picture I chose is in French... Anyways, I really liked this movie!! I think my brother and I are the only people who thought the graphics were downright embarrassing a few times. Like, we just looked at each other and busted up laughing in the middle of the movie because the graphics were horrendous. Other than that, I thought it was great! James McAvoy never lets me down.

I love the summer movie releases.
